Recipes

These are some of my favorite juice recipes.  I do not know a lot about food combining, but I do know about making a concoction that is tolerable enough to enjoy for 40 days.

My apologies for not populating this as quickly as I should.

Juice 1
1/4 pineapple (including skin)
2 oranges
1 tangerine
1 small sized sweet potato

Do you remember the old orange cream-cicle we bought from the ice cream trucks when we were kids?  That's what this tastes like! It's just liquid, and not super cold.  And what about the sweet potato? Sounds gross, right? That's what I thought when I had heard about this type of a juice.  But the first time I drank it, I became a believer.  My friends actually ask me to make this for them as a dessert now.

Juice 2
2 apples
3 carrots
1 bunch of spinach
1 cube of ginger
2 stalks of celery
handful of raspberries
2 lemons

Juice 3 - Dr. Oz's Green Juice
2 cups spinach
2 cups cucumber
1 head of celery
1/2 inch or teaspoon ginger root
1 bunch parsley
2 apples
Juice of 1 lime
Juice of 1/2 lemon

Juice 4
Juice 4 -  It tastes
very crisp & refreshing.
1 bunch of kale (about a cup or two)
1 lemon
1 lime
1 ginger
2 small apples
3 small stalks of celery
1 plumb
1 pear
1 kiwi
1 cucumber

It's very green, but it doesn't taste green. It is crisp, light, and surprisingly tasty!  When I told my significant other that, he made me stop what I was doing and write down everything I put in the drink before I forgot so that I could post it for you. (Basically I was just randomly tossing anything within reach into the juicer.)
You can thank him for this delicious drink. : )

Juice 5
10 strawberries
8 raspberries
1/2 a handfull of blueberries
2 apples
1 handful of kale
3 small stalks of celery
1 lemon
1 cucumber
ginger

This is the juice that my significant other made for me.  It tastes like the most wonderfully refreshing lemon/strawberry crispness.

Miscellaneous Recipes

Leek Broth
  1. Slice the white section of a leek into little disks and place these into a colander
  2. Put the colander under running water and separate the layers within the disks while rinsing off the dirt
  3. Put into a pan of enough water to cover the leek root and then some
  4. Bring water to a boil then simmer for 20-30 minutes
  5.  Once it the broth is to the right flavor, strain the leek out of the broth and drink the broth
I learned this from French Women Don't Get Fat, which is a so-so book.  Basically, leek is a natural detoxifier, and this is a nice change from the usual juices.  It's warm and sometimes I eat it like soup just to get myself some normalcy.  Do be forewarned that this can get smelly since leek is in the same family as garlic and onion.  My significant other has requested I only cook this when he's not around since the kitchen ends up smelling like this vegetable.

Soda Replacement

2 parts Gerolsteiner mineral water
1 part pomegranate juice
juice from 1/2 lemon or lime

It's super tasty and refreshing!
